Funny girl
Addison has decided that she likes to sit on this one vent in our playroom. She can hear when the furnace kicks on, and then she will run to the vent saying "warm, warm". She will sit on the vent until it kicks off, and sometimes she will cover herself with her blanket, so she traps all the warm air. She is so silly sometimes.
She recently learned to say bless you (about 2 months ago, I am just behind on blogging), and now whenever someone sneezes or coughs, she says "bless you". We think it is so cute.
She is sure growing up so quickly! I see her do new things every day, and I know that I should be writing them down. I just can't keep up. She can walk up the stairs by herself now. It seems like just yesterday that she learned to crawl up them. She talks so much! She is never, ever quiet.
Oh, and we are definitely approaching age 2 with a vengence because tatrums (and time-outs) are a daily accurance in the house.

Addison meets Santa
Lacey & I took Addison to meet Santa on Monday. She didn't cry but she was definitely hesitant and unsure of what was going on. She just sat there and kept saying "momma, momma" over and over in the softest voice. I couldn't get a good picture, because she refused to smile. I think she thought I was going to leave her there with that strange man.

We have weight gain!
I took Addison in to our pedi's office today to have a weight check. We have been monitoring her weight gain the last few months, and since she doesn't have another well baby check until 2 years, we thought we should go in and make sure she is still gaining and not losing.
Her weight today: 22.6 lbs (18 month visit: 21.6)
Her height today: 32.6" (18 month visit: 31.25)
She is still quite the little peanut but we are happy with any gain at this point. Her 18-24 month pants are just the right length, but we have to have adjustable waist pants and then pull the elastic clear out or they are way too big.
Addison got her flu shot today, but I passed on the H1N1 shot. I think I am going to call my cousin and see what he says about it.
Little facts:
*Wearing 18-24 month clothes but can still wear some 12-18 month stuff.
*Wearing size 5 shoes.
*Wears size 3 diapers (although only wearing diapers at nap, bedtime and errand running)
*Loves Dora, Monster (Elmo) and Sponge Bob.

Happy 21 months baby girl!
Addison,
I meant to post this yesterday, but as with many things these days, I forgot. You are 21 months old now! Where has the time gone? My sweet little ball of chubbiness has turned into a sweet (but sassy!) little toddler! You are so smart. You are so loving. You are so perfect in every way. I love watching you grow and learn. You my dear, are the best thing that I have EVER done.
I love you with all my heart! I look forward to every day I am blessed with you......
Love,

Why is Addison still rear-facing?
I haven't blogged in a while. I haven't had too many interesting things to blog about. So, I decided to dedicate this post to one of the most commonly asked questions...
Yes, Addison is (almost) 21 months and still rear-facing. Yes, I often get plenty of dirty looks, and snide comments. Yes, people look at me like I have 3 heads. I don't care. You can think I am a bad parent. You can laugh behind my back. You can call me overprotective. You can tell me that I am squishing her legs or that she will have crooked legs. You can laugh as you tell me that I am punishing her by having her rear-facing.
Statistics show that children are 5x safer rear-facing than they are forward facing. I didn't make this up people. I have researched car seats since before I was pregnant with Addison. I have read countless articles on the importance of car seat safety. I have installed, un-installed, and re-installed my car seat(s) time and time again only because I needed to get it "just" right. 85% of car seats are not installed properly. Mine is.
Children riding in forward facing seats run a higher risk of being internally decapitated during a rear end collison. I have been rear ended. My neck hurt like hell. If it hurts that bad for me at 20+ years old, then think about how it would feel for a child. Their necks are like pencils and easliy snapped. That is not something that I would want anyone to experience.
So, I am sorry if you think my choice is wrong. You can forward face your child at 1 AND 20, if you want. That is your decision. This is mine, so please keep your snide comments to yourself. I no longer try and inform others around me of the benefits that extended rear-facing provide, but if someone is interested enough to ask me, then I will definitely share my knowledge with them. I have links on the side of this blog for those that are interested.

Addie's new favorite game..
Addison has decided that she loves to climb up and sit on Tim's head. She especially loves to do this while he is trying to watch a game or a favorite show. She just climbs right up there and laughs and laughs. Tim is such a good sport about it.
She is too funny.
Potty Training..
We've been sitting Addison on the potty for months. We never took it seriously, but we figured that it couldn't hurt to get her used to sitting on it, etc. It has definitely been hit or miss as far as going or not.
Yesterday, I decided that potty training 101 was going to be in full swing. I woke her up, took of her diaper, and let her run around all day without a diaper on. She does have toddler underwear but she doesn't understand that you need to pull them down first.
She ended up having two accidents (which isn't bad for the 1st day) and successfully used the potty about 9-10 times. Yay! She even woke up dry after her almost 3 hour nap!
Of couse as with anything there are drawbacks. My child was so focused on pottying that she woke up at 3am and 5am asking to potty. I was shocked. She had a pull-up on and I figured that she would just still go in that (she did a little). Never in my right mind did I think that my 20 month old would be waking up to potty in the middle of the morning.
** We have only had 1 accident so far today!

a.w.e.s.o.m.e
My child spends entirely too much time with me. How do I know? Tonight she came up with one of our wedding invitations, looked at it, and said "awesome".
Uh oh.
