Addison is 3!

Our sweet girl turned 3 on Sunday! Where has the time gone? It really does seem like just yesterday we were nervously waiting to be discharged from the hospital and wondering what kind of adventure we had just started on.
We had a great party with all of our closest friends (and their little ones!) on Saturday. It was really nice. Then, it snowed a bunch a we had some people cancel for the family party on Sunday. It stilled turned out great though. It was actually kind of nice after all the craziness from Saturday.
We were also blessed to be able to see my aunt and uncle that were in town for the weekend from Seattle!

Here are a few pics from the parties.........

Sweet Potatoes

Ry had sweet potatoes for the first time today. I don't think he was a fan. He normally gobbles his cereal up so quickly. In fact, this morning when I was giving him his cereal, he was acting like a baby bird. He would tilt his head back as I brought the spoon to his mouth. It was so funny! I might try and hold off on the veggies for a while longer.

He has been rolling like crazy. As soon as you put him on the floor he flips right over. Fortunately, this hasn't caused much of an issue with sleeping. Occassionally, we will have to go back in and flip him back over to his back. I hope he learns to roll the other way soon.

We are still carrying Ry around in the infant carrier. It is heavy but SO convenient. I am hoping that we will make it to a year + with the carrier. He has his 6 month appointment coming up in February, so I guess we will see how much he weighs then.

The kids and I met my friend Nicole and her daughter Audryna at the Children's Museum yesterday afternoon. It was the first time I had taken the kids, and I knew that Addison would love it. She did! She had so much fun running around and checking everything out.

We finally bought new living room furniture, and it got delivered today.  I love it so much! It is a chocolate brown courderoy material, so we are hoping that it will hide some of those lovely messes that our children leave everywhere. This is our first brand new living room furniture!! The last 2 sets that we had were used, so we were excited to go and pick out something that WE loved. Our living room feels so "homey" and warm. I may actually sit down here more often. We still have a few little things to do such as: finding something to hang above the couch, another set of throw pillows, some pictures on the wall, baskets under the coffee table/end table, and an actual cabinet for under our television.

I will post pics of the living room soon!

Crib sleeping and cereal

Ryne slept the whole night in his crib last night (01/04). We are so thankful that we might be on the right path to weaning him from sleeping in his swing. I had previously started trying to transition him for nap time, but it was hit or miss on whether or not he would actually sleep in it. Normally, he would fall asleep for a a little while but never more than an hour. He will sleep anywhere between an hour to three hours in his swing. We love that thing!

He also officially moved into his own room last Saturday (01/01). I kind of miss the little guy sleeping next to our bed, but I definitely don't miss his grunting, snoring and farting all night.

I attempted to give Ry some cereal a few weeks ago, but he just wasn't ready yet. He definitely still had the tongue thrust reflex going on and it just ended up all over his shirt. We were planning on waiting until 6 months, but he just seems hungry all the time. He is eating around 7 ounces every 2.5-3 hours, but if we give him more than that, he will vomit everywhere.  He sometimes does this even with his regular bottles.  Tonight he finished a bottle and 1/2 hour later was screaming his head off. So, I thought I would give it a try. Wow. He hammered down that cereal. I made him about 2-3 tablespoons mixed with formula, and he really devoured it. If I took too long between bites he would grunt and groan at me. He ended up having 2 bowls of cereal and then another 4 ounces of bottle. I really can't believe that a few weeks made that big of a difference.

I am getting curious to see how much he weighs now. At this point, he has been right on track with his sister. Same weight and within a 1/4 of inch in height. I am wondering if he will be as tiny as Addie, or if he will keep on track and be bigger than she is.

I finally ordered Addison's birthday invitations too. I am a little behind this year. Each year I promise that I will get Christmas cards out but I never do. I procrastinate too much and then it ends up being too late. Maybe Happy Valentine's Day cards???

Addison is obsessed with her birthday. She constantly asks if I will come to her party. All.the.time. She is SO excited about it. She wants to know who will be there and makes sure that I know that she wants a purple cake with orange polka dots. Most kids change their mind as often as the wind blows. Not this kid. Her answer has been the same for at least a month now. I guess we are having a purple cake with orange polka dots then. :)

Some new things that Addison has been saying:

*Our friend Stefani came to babysit, and they were talking about Ry and babies. Addison looked at Stefani and said, "Do you think we should have another baby?"

*I picked her up from school yesterday, and she made sure to tell everyone that I call her "bossy britches" and "stinky pete".

*Addison told me that she wanted another brother. I need 2 brothers she said. When I asked what we would call the other baby she said "uh.....baby"

*She was in the shower the other day, and asked me where the shampoo was at. I told her it was on the shelf. Then, she said, "the yellow shampoo in the bottle behind me. behind my back?". She is getting so big lately!

* Upon getting out of the bathtub she says, "Mama, my fingers are so wrinkly like my Grandpa Joe's".

* She needs privacy when using the restroom. I will take her upstairs, and then she will say "Mama, go stand in the hall and close the door".

Feet

Ryne found his feet on Wednesday (12/29). I was changing him on the changing table, which seems to be his favorite place, and he just started grabbing at his feet and trying to pull them up as far as he could.

I will try and get a pic as soon as I can.

Some 4 Month pictures

These were taken by a friend of mine who is experimenting with photography. She hadn't had the opportunity to do newborn photography yet, so I took  Ry over and had her take a few pics. Ry was not the most cooperative, which makes me really happy that I didn't spend $100+ at some photography place. He rarely looked right at the camera, threw up a few times, and just wanted to be a silly little 4 month old. :) I love that little guy!

It is crazy how time flies

when you are living the crazy life.

The kids are growing like weeds around here. Addison is talking our ears off about just about everything! She comes up with the craziest ideas, and is really getting into pretending. She loves to play on her own with her dollies, and I can always hear her saying, "Shhh baby. Its time to sleep. Close your eyes". I love it.

In the last few weeks she has told me:

"Mom, your butt stinks, and I don't wanna smell it"

"It is time for a smoke break"

"I am smoking this. Leave me alone" (insert strange puffing noises)

"We don't have any presents!" (the morning after we put the Christmas tree up)

"It is my birthday party!" (after seeing lots of cars at our neighbors house) followed by an "Oh no, I missed my party" after Tim told her it wasn't her birthday.

and a conversation like this:

Addison: Addison needs a popsicle (Yes, she refers to herself in the 3rd person still)
Me: Oh you do?
Addison: Yep, Mmm Hmmm. I need a popsicle because my leg really hurts.
Me: Your leg hurts?
Addison: Uh huh. My leg hurts for a popsicle.
Me: Oh, your leg hurts because you need a popsicle?
Addison: Uh huh. It does. It hurts for a popsicle. Really bad. (insert grabbing of the leg and groaning here)

Ryne is growing and changing every day. He is sleeping about 12 hours a night now, and is falling into a pretty predictable eating schedule of about every 4 hours or so. He is smiling, cooing and laughing at us. He really loves when his daddy sings crazy songs to him. Unfortunately, unlike Addison at that age, he is NOT a fan of the camera. He will smile and smile until I pull that dreaded camera out. Then he just stares at it.

He is almost 4 months old, and I haven't had his 3 month pictures taken. Poor little guy. He really is getting the short end of the stick being the 2nd baby. :-)
