It is crazy how time flies

when you are living the crazy life.

The kids are growing like weeds around here. Addison is talking our ears off about just about everything! She comes up with the craziest ideas, and is really getting into pretending. She loves to play on her own with her dollies, and I can always hear her saying, "Shhh baby. Its time to sleep. Close your eyes". I love it.

In the last few weeks she has told me:

"Mom, your butt stinks, and I don't wanna smell it"

"It is time for a smoke break"

"I am smoking this. Leave me alone" (insert strange puffing noises)

"We don't have any presents!" (the morning after we put the Christmas tree up)

"It is my birthday party!" (after seeing lots of cars at our neighbors house) followed by an "Oh no, I missed my party" after Tim told her it wasn't her birthday.

and a conversation like this:

Addison: Addison needs a popsicle (Yes, she refers to herself in the 3rd person still)
Me: Oh you do?
Addison: Yep, Mmm Hmmm. I need a popsicle because my leg really hurts.
Me: Your leg hurts?
Addison: Uh huh. My leg hurts for a popsicle.
Me: Oh, your leg hurts because you need a popsicle?
Addison: Uh huh. It does. It hurts for a popsicle. Really bad. (insert grabbing of the leg and groaning here)

Ryne is growing and changing every day. He is sleeping about 12 hours a night now, and is falling into a pretty predictable eating schedule of about every 4 hours or so. He is smiling, cooing and laughing at us. He really loves when his daddy sings crazy songs to him. Unfortunately, unlike Addison at that age, he is NOT a fan of the camera. He will smile and smile until I pull that dreaded camera out. Then he just stares at it.

He is almost 4 months old, and I haven't had his 3 month pictures taken. Poor little guy. He really is getting the short end of the stick being the 2nd baby. :-)

Weight checks

Today, I took the kids in for a nurse visit. Addison still needed her Prevnar shot, so I took the opportunity to get them both weighed.

Addison: 26lbs
Ryne: 13lbs 14oz

I am overly excited that Addison gained 1 whole pound since her visit in July. That is a big accomplishment for her. She is just a picky little eater. I wonder who she gets that from??

Sweet Ry

Friday, October 8, 2010

2nd trip to the dentist.

I took Addison to see Dr. Bennett on October 4th because we needed to check and see how her "grey tooth" was doing. She did awesome! I was SO proud of her. No cavities either!!!

SLEEP! We have it!

Ry had a really rough night on Friday, so we were both overly prepared for a horrendous night last night. He has what we (along with what seems like a million other parents) have dubbed his "witching" hour. Except on Thursday, that hour turned into several hours! He screamed and screamed. We rocked, swaddled and shushed him for what seemed like forever. Eating didn't work, swinging didn't work. Nothing worked.

Last night, I decided that even though the night before was extremely rough, I was still going to attempt to swaddle him. What baby does like to be swaddled?? Addison slept the best that way. So, he got a bottle, a change of clothes, dry diaper and into the miracle blanket he went. He was not happy. The poor little guy is seriously like a mini hercules. You can just seem him squirming, pushing and kicking as hard as he can to get out of that thing. He is a strong little bugger.

By 10:30 he was sound asleep in his swing (yes, this is a story for another post). I decided to crawl into bed, but it took me a while to fall asleep. Normally as soon as I get into bed, he will start fussing around and it inevitably leads to one of us getting back out of bed. Not last night! I got up around 4 for some reason and looked at the clock. I haven't felt such a rush of panic since Addie slept through the night for the first time!! I couldn't believe it, and I had to rush over to the swing to make sure I could hear breathing! Once I heard that sweet sound, I was able to crawl back into bed for a while longer. Lovely. Sleep is lovely.

Ry Ry Smiles

Ry smiled his first "BIG" smile at me yesterday (9/22). It definitely wasn't gas. He looked right at me and smiled. It is sort of bittersweet for me. It is quite possible that we are done having children, so each milestone seems like the beginning of the end for me. Don't get me wrong, I definitely realize that as he (and Addison) grow, there will be many more "firsts" but it definitely breaks my heart that the "baby" firsts will be no more.
