** This is a post that I had written back when Ry was 18 months, and I evidently never published it. Oops. :(
My little guy is 18 months old today!! Where has the time gone? It seems like he was just a tiny, squishy baby yesterday! Now, he's a walking, talking boy of destruction. :)
At 18 months, Ry can say:
Mom, Mama
Dada
Sissy
Addie
puppy
Elmo
papa
eyes- can identify
nose-can identify
mouth-can identify
hair- can identify
shoes
wall (very odd)
cracker
fries
hot dog
snow
socks
cookies

Ry 15 months
I stink at blogging these days. It is evident by the fact that I haven't blogged since August and it is now December. I don't even know where to start....
Ry had his 15 month appointment on the 10th.
Stats:
Weight: 24 lbs 1.5oz
Height: 32.2"
Just for fun I had them do Addison's as well.
Weight: 30.2 lbs
Height: 38.1"
For comparison Addison's 15 month stats:
Weight: 20.6 lbs
Height: 30"
Other important milestones:
Said hello (holding phone/hand to head)- August 8th
Tooth #8 - August 27th
Tooth #9, 10 & 11- November 10th
Tooth #12- December 2nd
First Steps- August 28th
Walking- September 20th
First Air Show- August 27th
First vacation- September 15-19 Went to Arkansas to see great grandparents.
Accomplished going down the big stairs alone- August 16th
Accomplished going down the little steps alone- August 16th
Funny things Addie has said/done:
August 25th- I was just brushing Addison's hair, and I said "wow you have such a tangled mess this morning". She says. " Oh! Do you see a bird in there?"
August 19th- Addison just used a red marker do give herself "owies" on her legs. Hmmm. Well at least she has a great imagination. :)
September 3rd- Mom! Ry wants a piece of that "bikini" bread..... Hmmm. I guess zucchini bread is a hit. :)
September 22nd- Addison just woke up and proclaimed (as loud as she possibly could), "Mom! My nose is all rusty!"
September 23rd- I should have learned long ago that when my 3 year old tells me that we have something, she is usually right. I bought something at this store this morning, and then she proceeded to tell me that we had one left at home. I told her that we used it a while back. We get home, she runs upstairs and returns holding it in her hand. You win Addie, you win. :)
September 29th- Addie show me your dance moves....... (does a move similar to the running man). I laugh and say, "Are you doing the running man?" Addie says, "Ummm, I am a girl mom".
October 6th- One of my favorite things about being a mom..... Listening to Addison ask Ry a question, and then in a gruff voice answer it herself. This morning she said, "Hey Ry, you want to play kitchen with me?" Then, she lowered her voice and said, "Yes, sister I would love to play kitchen with you".
I think Addison has an excuse for everything. I told her that she needed to go eat her noodles that I made for lunch. She says, "No, I need to wait for them to get really, really cold". I asked why she would want her noodles to get cold, and she replied, "So they are nice and cold and make my ouchies feel better".
October 7th- Addie has taken to calling Ry the gingerbread man. So, she is now running in circles yelling, "You can't catch me gingerbread man". :)
October 9th- Addie just said that she and Ry are brother and sister just like mommy & daddy.
October 10th- You'd think that by the age of 3 1/2 one would know not to play with the toilet paper. Evidently not, as Addison just came down stairs with a "kleenex" for me, which I believe consists of one entire roll of toilet paper. :(
October 11th- Addison just asked if we could marry her preschool teachers Miss Dana and Miss Becky because she likes them so much. :)
October 13th- This morning Addison says, "I am not proud anymore. My nose does not squeak anymore". I must have had a confused look because then she said, "That doctor boy squeaked my nose that udder day, but now when I go like this (squeezing nose) it doesn't squeak. It might be because I have lots of boogies in there though".
Addison just told me that turkey and bologna are the same thing. So, of course I took the opportunity to tell her that turkey comes from turkeys and bologna comes from pigs. To which she replies...."Ummmmm, like from their butt?"
**She skinned both knees at preschool yesterday, but I am not sure how cold noodles are going to help her knees. :)

Tooth #7
Ry's 7th tooth has been peeking out since 8/3! I can't get a good picture of it, because frankly who wants their mom peering into their mouth with a camera?
We are quickly approaching little man's birthday, and I am still in disbelief. Seriously, where has the time gone? Seems like just yesterday we were keeping our fingers crossed for a "sticky" baby, and now we have the cutest little guy ever! :)
July passed quickly but not without incident. Ry suffered from Cocksackie Virus over 4th of July weekend. Then, we had to rush him to the pedi's office on 7/22 because he was running a temp of 102.9. An hour at the pediatrician's office and 2 blood draws later, and we still didn't have any answers. We were told it was probably just a viral infection and it would run its course. I, was freaking of course, because what else do I ever do? Viral meningitis had been in the news recently and I couldn't get it out of my head.
Sadly, things got worse before they got better. My grandma suddenly passed away on July 23rd. This was completely unexpected and caught me off guard. She had just been on vacation with my aunt the week before. :(
Thankfully, Ry started feeling better on Sunday, and was back to his old self my Monday. Poor little thing has seen the doctor more times than his sister has in her 3 1/2 years of life. He is an old pro now. We feel blessed that it hasn't been anything severe.
Today, we officially signed Addison up for dance class. She has been going to the studio for their summer mini-sessions, and she has been loving it. Although, I sometimes wonder if it is worth the cost, because when I peek in she often seems like she is in la-la land. I guess we will see. She should be busy between preschool two mornings a week and dance one morning. I have to say that the $$ involved in this is really making me question whether or not we should even consider baby #3. This stuff isn't cheap and this is just the beginning.
Addie is cracking me up lately. She is really into The Avengers, X-Men and Iron Man lately. All day long all I hear is, "Can I watch a little bit (while holding her fingers just slightly apart) of Wolverine?" I think the kid has an addiction. Her dad likes it too, so I guess it is a good bonding time for them.
I have also learned that I need to be more careful about letting her listen to music on my Itouch. While at my parent's house the other day, she stood in the kitchen and proclaimed, "Its Britney b*tch". Which then resulted in a talk about what we can and cannot listen to on the Itouch. However, this child is smart, and she has figured out that she can mute the bad part and then un-mute it and continue listening. Wise beyond her years. :)

Catching up!
I am not sure why I can't manage to keep this blog up to date anymore. The kids both go to bed at a decent time, so I should be doing this after they do to bed.
Ry is growing like a weed still. I plan on weighing him today to see where he is at. He had a sick visit a few weeks ago, and I think he weighed close to 21 lbs. I will have to double check. He has been sleeping from 7:30 pm to 9:30 am, but I think he is dropping his morning nap. So, he gets up about 9:30, and then he takes a nap around 1pm for a few hours. He is learning to crawl faster and faster. He loves to go up the stairs and look back and laugh at us, because he knows that he isn't supposed to be climbing them. :)
He loves to dance when there is music on, and roll the ball back and forth with his sister. In fact, he loves balls in general. We now have tons of them in our house, and he pushes them all around the house. He also loves to swing on our new swing set!
Ry moved into his convertible seat about a two months ago, and I am not a fan. I loved that infant seat, but I had promised it to another family, so I needed to get it all cleaned up and off to them.
Addison is also growing as well. Finally. She currently weighs 28.8lbs, which is a pretty decent weight gain for her. She started dance a couple of weeks ago, and she seems to really enjoy it. She loves her tap shoes and constantly wants to wear them around the house. We have also signed up for preschool again this fall, and she will go every Monday/Wednesday morning from 9-11:30.
We are so thankful and blessed to have such awesome kids. They really are the light of our lives. While we sometimes want to pull our hair out, our house is always full of laughter as well!
Here are some funny conversations that we have had with Addison in the last few months:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Addison: I sat backwards on the potty this morning. Like my daddy, and it was SO fun!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Addison told my mom (Grandma Julie): My mom took care of things when she was well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Addison: Do lightening bugs pee?
Me: Ummm. Uh, I don't know. No, I don't think so.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Addison: I need to potty! (while in the pool)
Me: Go knock on the door and daddy will help you.
Addison: I just peed in Grandma Julie's pool.
Me: You peed in Grandma's pool? Why would you do that?
Addison: Because I wanted to.

Blogging
Okay, so it is obvious that I stink at blogging. It has been a month since my last post, and a lot has happened since then! First off, can you believe my little guy is going to be 11 months old in no time!?! WHAT!!!
Ry must be having a major growth spurt these days. He has been going down for the night around 730 and not waking until around 9am. Then, he has been taking (2) 3 hour naps! In addition to eating everything in sight. No joke. This kid devours 3 pancakes, a cup of mandarin oranges and a container of yogurt for breakfast. He is eating at least 3 big meals a day, with 2 snacks and 3-4 cups of formula. He is a BIG guy!
He quit taking bottles somewhere around 8 1/2 months, so we moved to a sippy cup around then. Well, about a week or so ago, I decided to go ahead and give him a straw cup. He LOVES it! So, no more bottles and no more sippies! Yay!
Today, he started clapping. So, whenever you yell "yay", he claps and claps. It is so cute!

Tooth #6
Tooth #6 made its debut on 05/20. However, all 4 of these new teeth have barely broke their way through yet. Poor, poor crabby guy!

Teeth 4 & 5 are now out!
Teeth 4 & 5 popped out on 5/16! I am still trying to get a pic, but that little bugger doesn't want me anywhere near his new pearly whites!

Tooth #3!
Tooth #3 started to pop out yesterday (5/15)! We painted Ry's room on Saturday, so he couldn't sleep in it that night because of fumes. We set his pack and play up in our room for the night, but that little stinker was up most of the night. We figured that maybe it was just because his routine was off for naps and bedtime, but Tim noticed his tooth poking out yesterday. That was probably our culprit!
I am going to try and snap a pic of it today. I have a bunch of pics that I need to get posted on here as well as some tidbits about what the kids are up to.

Sitting up in the crib!
Yesterday morning (4/30) I found Ry sitting up in his crib for the first time! He has been sitting on his own for a few months now, but we have never actually witnessed him sitting in his crib. We decided that we should lower the mattress tonight after he pulled himself up to standing! We don't want any late night injuries!
He looks so little in his crib now! It seems so far down for the little guy. We could have put it on the middle setting, but I figured that we would probably have to lower it again in a few months, so we just put it all the way down now.
I will take some pics tomorrow!

Ry @ 7 months
It is hard to believe that our little guy is going to be 8 months old in a matter of a few days! Like a bad mom, I forgot to take his 7 month picture. Ooops!
At 7 months Ry can:
* mimic kissing noises
* get up on his hands/knees and rock back and forth
* say what sounds like "mama" and "dada" when he gets mad
* eats (4) 7 oz bottles a day
* eats 2-3 jars of baby food a day
* started eating Stage 3 foods at 7 1/2 months
* wears mostly 12-18 month clothes
* laughs hysterically at his sister
* likes to eat the grass at any opportunity
* moved up to the Primo tub from baby tub. LOVES bath time!
* started eating Puffs, Mum Mums and Biter Buscuits
* sleeps from 8 pm til around 7-7:30 am
* takes about 3 naps a day. Usually goes down between 9/10am, 1/2pm and then again around 5 for a short nap before bed.
* can stand next things like his crib, coffee table, chair.
* loves his jumperoo, not so much his exersaucer anymore
* still riding in his infant carrier! Boy is that thing heavy!
* Hold his own bottle!
* Hold his own bottle!

Ry guy
I think he looks so much like my dad. It makes me a little sad to know that they will never know each other.

2 Firsts!
Ry is getting his 1st tooth (picture tomorrow) and had yogurt for breakfast! I can't believe he is growing up so fast!
Here is the pic:
I am hoping to take the kids in for professional pictures sometime in the next week. We were so good about having Addie's done at 3 months, 6 months and 12 months. We haven't had Ry's done at all except for our family pics right after he was born. Poor 2nd child.

Feeding the geese & ducks
On Saturday we took the kids to feed the geese and ducks at Boystown. I took Addison last year, and she was pretty scared of them. They weren't very nice.
This trip was pretty successful. In fact, I don't think she wanted to leave. We took 3 packages of buns for them, and she wasn't very happy when we ran out. She had a hard time tearing apart the buns into small pieces, so she would just pull a chunk off and throw it. I think she ended up tearing the bun in 1/2 pretty much, which made it a little difficult for them to eat.
When we first arrived we had about 2-3 geese around us. Then, I looked up and you could see the rest of them making their way across the lake. It was a really funny site! They just kept coming and coming.
